The Solitary Athlete

Back In The Pool.

Took a glance at the calendar this morning and can’t believe that it has been 10 weeks since I started training. This means we’re right in the middle of the training calendar, with another 10 weeks to go before the Gold Coast Half IM.

It was my first swim session yesterday after being back from Gladstone. It was grey skies throughout the day at a top of 16 degrees all day. I did consider skipping the swim session because it was just too damn cold for me. But in the end, conceded and decided to go ahead anyway.

Mind you, I’m one of those who feel the cold a lot. Started rather apprehensively but once I got into the water, I was in auto-pilot mode and did my routine. As expected, both arms and certain parts of the upper body were feeling quite sore this morning after no swimming for the past week and a half.

I had to drag myself out of bed this morning as it was raining and snug in bed. All I wanted was to sleep-in. Looks set to be another grey and cold day with the temperature at 13 degrees at the moment.
